MOGA Caparica awarded “Best Festival in Southern Europe” at Heavent Paris 2024

The MOGA Festival, founded in Essaouira in 2016, continues to showcase Moroccan culture internationally and has just been named, along with its Portuguese counterpart, “Moga Caparica,” the best festival in Southern Europe at the Heavent Festival Awards-Paris. This international trade fair for professionals in innovation and event creation recognizes the most outstanding music festivals in Europe.

The first Moroccan festival to expand abroad, MOGA embodies the perfect blend of electronic music and cultural heritage. This award recognizes not only the festival's strong identity, but also its rich Moroccan roots, which remain at the heart of its success and reputation.

The success of this Portuguese edition is also due to the presence of key members of the production team, emblematic Moroccan artists who perform each year bringing a unique touch, as well as the singular energy of the many festival-goers from Morocco, proud to represent their culture and to breathe the soul of MOGA beyond borders.

Matthieu Corosine, co-founder of MOGA, said on the occasion of the award ceremony: “This award reflects our mission: to connect cultures, celebrate unique places, and offer unforgettable experiences. Thanks to the incredible energy of our team and the unconditional support of our community, the #MOGATribe, we have taken on the challenge of broadening our horizons while remaining faithful to the soul of MOGA. It is also a way of paying tribute to Essaouira, whose values and heritage shine far beyond its ramparts, and find a natural echo in Portugal, a country linked to Morocco by a rich shared history.”

MOGA's expansion to Portugal, starting in 2021, has not detracted from the festival's original identity; on the contrary, it has enriched it, strengthening ties between the shores of the Atlantic. The festival's diverse programming and inclusive approach have created a platform where tradition and modernity meet, bringing together artists and festivalgoers from around the world. This award is a collective victory for the entire team that supported this ambitious project, as well as for the communities of Essaouira and Caparica, who inspire each edition of the festival.

MOGA confirms its place as a must-attend festival in Morocco and announces the dates for its sixth edition in Essaouira: from October 1st to 5th, 2025 , and tickets (Blind Pass) are now available. A new opportunity to celebrate the music, culture, and unique roots of MOGA in Essaouira.
